ALERT - POWER OUTAGE PLANNED FOR TONIGHT TO REPAIR SUBSTATION (please share)

Attention Perkins residents:

“Beginning at 11:00 p.m., Today, Wednesday, January 7, Perkins will have a planned electrical outage while OG&E makes repairs at the substation on Knipe St. Work will be completed by 2:00 a.m., January 8. This 3-hour outage will affect approximately 1,900 customers. The repair will increase reliability for the entire community. We appreciate your understanding as OG&E continues investing in infrastructure to better serve you.”

This is the planned outage we discussed back in December when we had that unexpected outage after that incident at the substation on Knipe. This is to make those final necessary repairs.

While we know this will be inconvenient, these repairs are necessary in order for our substation to continue working as it should. We do appreciate OG&E giving us some notice.

Part of the reason they chose tonight was due to the mild temps. With forecasted highs in the 70s the next two days, with lows at or just below 60, things should stay relatively mild overnight. Now we understand there are warmer times of the year. However the thought is that if these substation repairs are delayed until say April or May - then the substation could fail again say in February - when temps could be in the teens - and then we'd all be facing an emergency outage (again) vs. a planned repair outage.

Jax Forrest is enrolling early at OSU and joining the Cowboy wrestling roster. Forrest, the U23 world champ, can compete right away and has five competition dates to use before burning a redshirt.

“You’ve gotta use them, and you’ve got to evaluate."

Oklahoma State will have a new Cowboy on its wrestling roster.

Cushing High senior QB Roman Tucker accounted for nearly 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns in the Tigers' 11-2 season.

“It’s no fluke, and it’s not luck or anything like that. He’s a ball player, and there’s a reason that he has gotten to this point."

With about a minute left in Cushing High’s eventual loss to Elgin in the Class 4A semifinals, coach Rusty Morgan found Roman Tucker.

Dawayne Hudson continues to take Perkins-Tryon football to new heights. Two straight semifinal appearances, 46 wins in five years. Next up is a title.

"We’re going to play in that (state title) game. I can’t tell you when, but it’s going to happen.”

Four games into the season, Perkins-Tryon head coach Dawayne Hudson and his wife hosted the team's seniors at his house.

North Texas running back Caleb Hawkins announced Sunday he is following coach Eric Morris and committing to OSU. As a true freshman, Hawkins finished the year with 25 rushing touchdowns (No. 1 nationally) and 1,434 rushing yards (No. 6 nationally).

New OSU coach Eric Morris is bringing his quarterback, Drew Mestemaker, the nation's leading passer, with him to Oklahoma State. Mestemaker confirmed his commitment Saturday to ESPN.

Mestemaker threw for 4,379 yards and 34 touchdowns this season.
