BREAKING: All players and coaches are safe. A bus carrying the Marathon High School boys and girls soccer teams caught fire on Interstate 75 on Monday afternoon. The Weekly spoke with MHS Athletic Director Lance Martin and a parent of one of the players, who both confirmed that passengers heard noises coming from the bus before it broke down on the side of the highway, with the rear of the bus eventually going up in flames. The fire was extinguished with no injuries by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and the teams eventually continued to their games at Franklin Academy aboard a different bus.
