Which one are you trying first?

Had to share this spring cocktail lineup from Township 23 Distillery because the seasonal drinks (as always) are so fun right now!

From “Fishing OP’ener” 🎣 (yes, that’s a Swedish Fish garnish) to the rest of the lineup, it’s the kind of place where you end up wanting to try the whole menu.

If you’re driving the Wisconsin River Road, this is a great time to try something new on their spring menu before it changes. Some of the cocktails can be made into mocktails, and they offer beer and soda as well.

Peaceful Lake Pepin đź’™

After last night’s storm, the birds are back on the placid lake. With the clouds hanging low over the bluffs and the calm water, the scene feels ethereal.

First sunset paddle of the year and it did not disappoint 🌅

The lake’s finally thawed, a kayak’s back in the water, and I forgot how much I missed this.

Out on Lake Pepin, the sunsets just hit different – wide open spaces, peaceful sounds, and views like this.

Lake Pepin is shedding its ice in a stunning rush to shore.
During spring thaw on frozen lakes, vertical ice slabs called candle ice start to fracture and move. As they reach shore, the pieces collide, shift, and even crack like glass - creating a mesmerizing natural spectacle. It was like watching the lake come to life!
Moments like this only last a few days each year - follow for more rare glimpses of nature.

You know it’s officially spring on Lake Pepin when you spot the first barges of the season!

Meanwhile in the Midwest…

It’s the first day of spring but nature is as confused as my outfit. Just over here (im)patiently waiting for the recent blizzard snow to melt!

It was a full house at Woods & Co Weddings + Events for last night’s community premiere screening of the PBS Wisconsin show – John McGivern's Main Streets: The West Coast. The upcoming episode is all about the geography and businesses along The West Coast of Wisconsin!

Sometimes the best part of a getaway is slowing down enough to enjoy it.

At Stockholm Haüs, evenings now end in the new wood-fired hot tub by AlumiTubs Wood Fired Hot Tubs – heated the old-fashioned way with real firewood, cedar, and a little patience.

Save this for your next weekend getaway idea 🔥

The sun peeked out this evening just in time for it to set an hour later because of Daylight Savings Time.

Potentially unpopular opinion: I’ll gladly lose an hour of sleep if it means it stays lighter later.

How do you feel about Daylight Savings Time?

You won’t find many landscapes like this in the Midwest.

The Driftless Region is one of the most unique landscapes in the Midwest. Because glaciers never reached this area, the land here was never flattened – leaving dramatic bluffs, winding valleys, and huge views over the Mississippi River.

This overlook at Maiden Rock Bluff in Stockholm, Wisconsin, might be one of the best places to see it for yourself.

Have you explored the Driftless Region before?
