Spring cleaning! Let's clean our houses together: find Cats and Crooners May 22 in the archive. Get out your mop and dance to vintage feel-good tunes from the 1930s (Fats Waller, Jimmie Lunceford) 1940s (Duke Eillington, Slim Gaillard) 1950s (Etta James, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan, Chris Connor, Carol Burnett), 1960s (Nancy Wilson, Louis Prima), 1970s (Jonathan Richman), 1980s (Mel Torme), and from today (Greg Brown, Madeleine Peyroux, Dry Bread). Pre-gaming for The 11 O'Clock Number with Ben, here are our guilty pleasure musical theater highlights: Annie, The Sound of Music, Once Upon A Mattress, Peter Pan.

Staff at Hunterdon Medical Center are collecting things to send over to Ukraine to help them during this difficult time. Humanitarian aid such as:

Non-perishable food
Warm socks
Warm gloves
Toothbrushes/toothpaste
Thermal Underwear
Hygiene Products (except sprays, perfumes, and products containing alcohol)
Diapers
Blankets and Bedding
Disposable Tableware
First Aid Kits
Tents, Sleeping Bags, Sleeping Pads
Standalone Lamps
Candles
Containers for liquids (water, fuel, etc)
Knee Pads
Ballistic Goggles
Over the Counter Medications (NO prescription drugs)
Consumer Electronics

1) You can drop donations off at the Hunterdon Medical Center's Public Relations office which is on the first floor of the general hospital through the main entrance. Drop-off at the Hospital ends at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 3rd.

2) You can drop donations off at the rotunda entrance at Frenchtown Presbyterian Church. Drop-off at the Church ends at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 3rd.

3) If you are unable to drop off donations in person, then you can call the church and we will try to organize someone to pick up your donation. House pick-up ends at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 3rd.

The story is told through the songs of Tin Pan Alley, vaudeville, Broadway, Hollywood by the children & grandchildren of immigrants like Irving Berlin, Al Jolson, George & Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg, Jay Gorney, Lew Brown, Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein II, Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Abel Meeropol, Al Dubin, Sam Lewis, Jean Schwartz, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.

Fred Miller’s Lectures-In-Song series continues with new presentations in March, April and May 2022. Find them on the Hunterdon County events calendar.

The series are a historical, anecdotal and musical profile of some great personalities or important aspects of American Popular Song. These Lectures are delivered by singer/pianist/narrator Miller at the piano, who has studied and been performing this genre since he was 22.
