IT'S WORLD COLLEGE RADIO DAY!!
College radio is more than a frequency.
It’s a place where students find their voice, experiment, take creative risks, and learn by doing. It’s a place where a playlist can introduce someone to their new favorite artist, where a story can spark a conversation, and where a local community can hear itself reflected through the voices of its own people.
At KWDC Delta College Radio, we’re proud to be a part of that.
Our station gives Digital Media students the opportunity to experience what it means to create, produce, program, communicate, and broadcast for a real audience. There’s something incredibly gratifying about watching a student go from learning the basics behind the board to confidently taking the microphone and realizing, WOW, People are actually listening to me.” 🎙️
But the impact goes both ways.
Every time KWDC goes on the air, our students aren't just gaining hands-on experience. They’re contributing something to the community we call home. We get to share local voices, independent music, ideas, stories, information, and perspectives that might not have another place on the dial. That’s the true magic of college radio.
It creates opportunities for students while creating connections with the communities they serve. And for us, there’s no greater reward than knowing that the work happening inside our studios can make a difference beyond them.
Today, we celebrate college radio stations everywhere and the students, educators, volunteers, and communities who keep them alive.
Here’s to the voices behind the mic, the people listening on the other end, and all the possibilities that exist when we simply turn the transmitter on.
