September 26th shares the premiere date of some of television's top prime time series. Which ones did you watch?

Starting with The Beverly Hillbillies, which launched 64 years ago today in 1962 on CBS.
Their mansion became legendary. The Beverly Hillbillies was filmed at Kirkeby mansion in Bel Air. Mr. and Mrs. Kirkeby rented their beautiful home to the studio for $500 a day.

Then there's Gilligan's Island, which debuted on this date 62 years ago in 1964 also on CBS.
The Gilligan's Island Lagoon was constructed at the CBS Studio Center back lot in Studio City, located about half a mile from Ventura Freeway. The sounds of rush-hour traffic often resulted in huge delays in filming.. The Lagoon was only about 4-feet at its deepest point.

And lastly there's The Brady Bunch, which began its 5 year run on this date, 57 years ago in 1969 on ABC. HGTV renovated the "Brady Bunch" house in Studio City, California, to match the sets from the sitcom before listing it for $5.5 million.

Beam me up! 🖖 One of our stops this coming Sunday as we check out California's geological marvels, is Vasquez Rocks! It's famous for film locations, like Star Trek, The Flintstones movies, tons of westerns and many more! Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is also known for great hiking and camping.

Each week, from September 24, 1963 through April 1970, the Cannonball ran through Hooterville, with stops at the Shady Rest and Drucker's Store. The Cannonball was a fictional name for the actual Sierra No. 3, a historic 4-6-0 (Ten-Wheeler) type steam locomotive from the Sierra Railroad. This "Movie Star locomotive" was used to film the show's exterior shots at the Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, California, which is a must-see historic location. 🚂

The TV show Petticoat Junction, premiered 63 years ago today on CBS, and was created by Paul Henning, the same producer behind The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres.

Petticoat Junction was filmed at a combination of locations in California and had its studio scenes shot at Hollywood Center Studios (now Sunset Las Palmas Studios) in Hollywood.

The TV show, the Munsters, premiered on this day, September 24, 1964, 62 years ago. The Munster Mansion is an exterior set located on the Universal Studios back lot. It is most famous for its use in the 1964–1966 sitcom The Munsters, but has appeared in several other productions, both before and after. It's Then and Now Thursday! 🏚

The house, built in the Second Empire Victorian architectural style, was constructed on Stage 12 in 1946 for the filming of the turn-of-the-century period romantic film So Goes My Love.

The set's most recent appearance is as 4351 Wisteria Lane in the ABC series Desperate Housewives, with a radical second floor makeover due to the show's producers being concerned that audiences would be distracted by seeing the Munsters' house in the series.

Tune in and check us out this Sunday morning as we explore the hidden gems of the Lake Shasta Caverns. These are a network of caves located near the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake in Redding, California. It was formerly named Chalk Cave and Baird Cave, named after Spencer Fullerton Baird.

The caverns are dated to at least 200 million years, and were formed by flowing water. Over the years this water drained leaving the caverns seen today. The caves are made entirely of limestone and feature a wide variety of formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, columns, and flowstone. The Discovery Room, one of eight known rooms in the cavern system, contains all types of limestone rock formations.
