A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect tonight, with wind chills of 5-10°F expected or currently ongoing across our forecast area. Wind gusts of 25-30 mph inland, and gusts as high as 45 mph along the coast will continue over the next few hours before quickly decreasing late tonight. With winds decreasing overnight, the coldest wind chills will likely be over the next few hours.

New Technology Coming to Emporia

The Emporia Police Department is introducing solar-powered parking enforcement devices to help reduce illegal parking, improve safety, and ensure fair enforcement especially in fire lanes, no-parking zones, and time limited areas.

These devices support 24/7 enforcement without requiring constant officer presence. Citations from the devices, if issued, will be mailed.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation as this technology is rolled out to help keep our streets safer and more accessible for everyone.
