Would you like to forget about the past? Start over? Strangely, Move D’s excellent, underrated gem, Kunststoff, was a great backdrop to describing the predicament of Cedric, a boy who’s on the fence about joining his elders’ ideology of literally letting go of your pain and suffering to redefine yourself.

If I’m honest, I’ve no idea why I was inspired to write about a cult’s indoctrination of youth after listening to Move D’s seminal album, Kunststoff. You never know where the wind takes you sometimes while writing blogs!

Even As We Speak is a fantastic record. I’m reminded of the melodic meanderings of Oneohtrix Point Never, crossed with sampledelic collage music from the 70s and 80s. I was inclined to write about a boy attempting to explain his, along with his classmates’, dire situation to the rest of the world. Does his audience receive the message? Read on to find out!

This house classic, “Burning,” is highly recommended for anyone looking to celebrate those brief pockets of hope in a nihilistic future. Kinda specific? Well, that’s how we felt writing this piece while listening to the driving rhythms and strings conjured by the great Pépé Bradock.
