Big D is 2 for 2 to start out the season! His first sit of the year in Georgia went exactly like his first sit in Kentucky. A big, mature southern buck hits the ground! This buck was a target last year but we never got our eyes on him, this year he had a pretty bad limp and was a welcome sight to see just before dark. It’s been a wild ride to start the season and Lord willing, the train will keep rolling down the tracks!

Bow: Lift X 29.5
Arrows: Triad 400s
Broadheads: 150 grain 2 blade 3”
Camo: Bottomland
Optics: .sport.optics
Hang on:

・・・
For the past 13 years I have been applying for the Non-Resident PA Archery Elk tag. On Saturday, July 26th I was getting ready to head out the door to take my daughter Sienna to see when I got a phone call from the PA Game Commission, who had just held the live annual drawing during the Elk Expo at the Elk County Visitor Center in Benezette and he informed me I had drawn (and they live streamed the drawing).

I was in complete disbelief. On the way to the concert, my phone was blowing up with messages as word quickly spread. I never thought I would draw this coveted, once in a lifetime tag. I quickly got to work researching outfitters who were all great, but in the end selected and was grateful that I did, it was a fantastic experience start to finish.

We are just getting back from the hunt and going through all the footage, images, etc. so more will be rolling out this week. Hopefully you’ve been following our social and YT for all the behind the scenes action.

Thank you again to , , and PA Fish & Game for this opportunity and tireless conservation efforts.

And a special thanks to the production crew: .hunts, and who hustled hard all week and laid down some of the most incredible footage that we can’t wait to share with you, especially when the show airs next Summer on .

Unofficial gross green score is in the 360’s.

God is good.

Opening day in Georgia was as hot as ever! This buck had been fairly consistent feeding in a small clover field and he was right on schedule with Kole, my son Cash and I all getting to watch it from ground level! I haven’t shot many bucks in Georgia from a ground blind but this guy offered a slightly quartering to 21 yard shot that worked out beautifully for my first buck of the year! He was pretty heavy for a southern buck and did end up going into the deepest ditch on the farm that cost his lunch, but that’s another story that we get into it on our latest podcast. Video coming next week, good luck to all you boys and girls out slinging arrows this week!

Hey everyone, last week we posted that we had a great trip to Alberta and we’d be sending pics soon.

But, with the horrific events of Sept 10th with Charlie Kirk our hearts were broken and our minds have been far from Alberta or hunting or anything else for that matter.

We’ve spent the past few days mourning and praying for Charlie and his family and wondering how we as a country got here.

But, that’s a conversation for another day.

So for now we’ll move on and try to live our lives in a manner that would make Charlie proud and put God and family first. And of course hunting and spending time outdoors with the people we love will come in near the top of the list too. So, rest in peace my friend, we’ll take it from here.

So, sorry for the delay. On to Alberta….

Alberta has always been one of my favorite places in the world to hunt mule deer and this year solidified that for me. Not only because I shot the biggest, most massive typical mule deer I’ve ever seen, but because Tiffany and the kids made the trip up to hunt as well for the first time in almost 10 years.

As expected, Tiffany picked right up where she left off.

The last time Tiffany and I hunted Alberta we were hunting with Mark Drury at Corey Jarvis’s Three Rivers Adventures where we all killed 190” bucks.

And true to form, she followed that up with another giant mule deer.

Now off to hunt elk! Stay safe everyone and good luck this season!

・・・
Less than 4 months ago had shoulder surgery, repaired his rotator cuff, labrum and reattached his bicep. He was supposed to be off limits from shooting a bow until the end of the year.
However, he had drawn a SE Montana elk tag and started working towards his personal goal of shooting a bow by mid September. His physical therapist supported his wish, so they worked. Therapy twice a week, daily exercises and plenty of band exercises to get that shoulder ready.
He then got an invite to go to Kentucky early and hunt with the boys from , He fought the urge to shoot and waited as long as he could to draw his bow.
The day before the trip, he drew his bow and hit his mark. The next day he shot a few more arrows and he was ready.
We arrived in Kentucky deer camp just in time to look at some trail cam pics and we headed out. “Bo” was the deer that had been frequenting the clover field David was headed to, a beautiful 9 point with almost half of his rack covered in white velvet.
Right before dark he appeared and walked all the way into 20 yards and Big D made a perfect shot! The buck stumbled into the woods and after a short blood trail, he had the first buck of the 2025 season on his first sit!
This buck was a hammer of a whitetail and a true test of determination and hard work! We are all proud of you Big D!
Big thanks to our friends at , it’s a pleasure sharing camp with those guys and can’t wait to do it again!
