My husband and I went to Lisboa last week just for 2 nights. We stayed at Misericordia, Lisboa across the Lost In restaurant. Our first day: We walked to Miradouro de Sao Pedro de AlcΓ’ntara at Barrio Alto to watched Russell Brand's concert π€£π
j/k. He does look like Russell to me. This place where you can see Castelo de Sao George from afar. Then we took tuk-tuk for 140 euros for 1.5hrs to see Torre de Belem, Lx Factory, Pasteis de Belem (tried the original recipe of pastel de nata), and visited Jeronimos Monastery. But then we found out later it is cheaper to take the tram to go to these places :(, but the good thing about taking tuk-tuk you will learn so much about their history and cultures; it is pretty neat. Our tour guide was excellent, very informative and she really made us immerse in their culture. At night, we went to Chiado, Lisboa where you can find the oldest bookstore, many great restaurants, Church of Saint Roch (pretty neat paintings on ceilings) , mini stores for souvenirs, chiado mall (Armazens do Chiado), walked to Praca do Comercio ( beautiful plaza and harbor), listening to Fado music. From Chiado to the place we stayed in, we were only charged 8euro plus tip for Bolt (my husband just download the app). It was so much easier than to get a taxi.
The next day walked from hotel to Rossio train station to go to Sintra. We paid 5 euro for both of us or $6.08 that was charged in our card. It was less than an hour commute. We took hop on hop off bus and paid 13.50 euro per person (If you would like to see 6 attractions places ): Monserrate Palace, Seteais Palace, Regaleira Palace, Sintra National Palace, Pena Palace, and Moorish Castle. If you would like to see all 6 places, you need 2 days or be there very early morning. If you are planning to visit Monserrate Palace and Pena, these 2 places are quite a hike. Yet, Pena Palace have busses to go up the mountain.
We started at Pena where you can see the Moorish Castle from afar, then took the bus and had lunch across Sintra National Palace. Then we walked to Regaleira Palace (about 15 minutes hike). Then we took 435 bus to Monserrate Palace. I believed I had more thank 16k steps just for this day π. It was a very lovely hike and both my husband and I really enjoyed.
Before going back to our hotel we stopped by again at Torre de Belem, rode scooter and paid about $8.51 for each of us. Bought pasteis de Belem (pastel de nata) to take home. From pasteis de Belem to hotel we use Bolt and charged us $11 plus tip. My husband and I love Portugal not only the place is beautiful but the people are very friendly. We would like to go back and spend more time to our next visit πππ
