Stroud’s Historic Rock Cafe is once again receiving national attention as Disney/Pixar recently visited with owner Dawn Welch in preparation for the 20th anniversary of Cars.

The visit focused on the lasting connection between the Rock Cafe, Route 66 and the beloved animated film that introduced millions of people to the spirit of small-town America and the Mother Road.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Disney/Pixar will release a four-part YouTube series beginning September 5, 2026, featuring the Rock Cafe and Dawn Welch’s role in the story behind Cars and its continued impact on Stroud.

For nearly two decades, the Rock Cafe’s connection to Cars has helped bring visitors from around the world to Stroud while highlighting the rich history and charm of Route 66.

Stroud Alumni Weekend brought Tiger pride back home as graduates from across the decades returned to reconnect, celebrate and honor Stroud traditions.

The weekend followed Friday night’s graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 and included parades, reunions, golf tournaments, scholarship fundraising and Saturday night’s Alumni Banquet.

One of the biggest highlights of the evening came from the Class of 1976, celebrating its 50-year reunion. The class “stole the show” with confetti poppers, school spirit and life-size photo tributes honoring classmates who have passed away — making sure they were still part of the celebration.

The banquet also recognized this year’s parade marshals, Dean and Linda Morrison, honored alumni memorials, celebrated scholarship recipients from the Class of 2026 and continued the alumni golf tournament tradition that helps fund scholarships for future Tigers.

From the youngest graduates to alumni spanning generations, the weekend served as a reminder of the pride, memories and lifelong connections that continue to make Stroud feel like home.

State Question 832 proposes raising Oklahoma’s minimum wage by $1.50 each year until it reaches $15 per hour in 2029. Beginning in 2030, the minimum wage would automatically adjust annually based on cost-of-living increases.

Supporters say the measure would help workers keep up with rising costs, strengthen the economy and give more Oklahomans the ability to afford housing and daily expenses.

Opponents argue it could place financial strain on small businesses, schools, cities and counties while potentially reducing entry-level job opportunities or increasing automation.

📊 What are your thoughts on State Question 832?
Do you support raising Oklahoma’s minimum wage to $15 an hour, or do you have concerns about the long-term impact? We’d love to hear respectful discussion from the community below.
