I have no dog in this fight and I truly have no idea what district or state y'all are in, but if you haven't worn the wrong shoes out to do farm chores you haven't spent enough time on a farm. Extra bonus points if you've ever slipped in cow manure wearing flip-flops and you'll never forget that squish.

When I’m deep in the planning, problem-solving, and constant pursuit of making Martin County 4-H even better, it’s easy to focus on what still needs to be done and forget to look back at how far the journey has come.

Then I remember the kid who once sat in a 4-H meeting, never imagining he’d one day become the 4-H agent leading the program that helped shape him. Sometimes the greatest reminder is that the life you once hoped for is the life you're living now.

Take time to appreciate where you are, celebrate how far you've come, and never lose sight of the excitement that started it all.

I've had the opportunity to be involved in so many awesome things over the years that sometimes I forget just how many.

Awesome things like when I was asked to stand with Marco Rubio at a press conference in support of Florida farmers.

I'm appreciative of these experiences because I can now draw on them when I'm teaching ambassadorship and civic engagement skills to Florida 4-H members. Plus it's really cool to say I once stood with the U.S. Secretary of State.
