🛑 It's time to talk about why I created my original page, then subsequently this page when I lost access to the original:

I created this page to help keep the community informed by sharing scanner traffic, weather updates, and other important local information. My goal has always been to provide timely, accurate updates so residents can stay informed about what's happening throughout the county.

When I started this page, one of my intentions was to provide real-time information in a way that could help reduce the number of community members responding to emergency scenes solely out of curiosity. I have a great deal of respect for our first responders and the work they do, and I understand the challenges they face. Through family, friends, and loved ones—both current and retired members of Law Enforcement, Fire, Dispatch, Coast Guard and EMS—I have seen firsthand the dedication and sacrifices made by those who serve our community & surrounding communities.

Over the years, I have also received positive feedback from some first responders regarding the page and its purpose. At its core, this page exists to inform the community, promote awareness, and support the professionals who work every day to keep Door County safe. To any of those professionals reading this I wanted to say thank you for what you do for our community and surrounding communities.

With that being said I again want to remind everyone, this page is not a platform for harassment, personal attacks, disrespect, or speculation. Whether the individual involved is a first responder, victim, suspect, witness, family member, department, or another community member, everyone deserves to be treated with respect and basic human decency. No one on this page knows the full circumstances of every situation, and it is not our place to judge, mock, threaten, or demean others.

If you choose to participate in discussions here, please do so respectfully. Disagreements and conversations are welcome; hostility, bullying, and disrespect are not. The goal of this page is to inform the community-not to create division or provide a space for attacking others.

This page is not intended for entertainment. Its purpose is to help keep our community informed about incidents, emergencies, and other events occurring throughout the area.

Recently, the behavior in the comments and private messages has become increasingly concerning. If this continues, I may need to disable comments on posts altogether.

Many people may have noticed that I have not been as active lately. A large part of that is due to the constant harassment, unreasonable demands, and lack of respect being directed toward me. I routinely receive messages demanding private information, including victim and suspect names, addresses, and other details that I will not release. In some cases, information is intentionally kept vague to protect the privacy and safety of those involved, as well as my own.

No matter how much information is provided, there always seems to be pressure for more. I've also been criticized and harassed for missing calls while attending personal events, such as family gatherings. Some individuals have gone so far as to tell me that it is my "job" to keep the community informed and that I should be monitoring the scanner instead of spending time with my family.

To be clear: this is not my job. I operate this page voluntarily. I provide updates when I can, during my personal time, because I care about keeping the community informed.

Going forward, I ask that everyone remember there is a real person behind this page. Respect, patience, and basic decency are not unreasonable expectations. If those standards cannot be maintained, additional moderation measures, including limiting or disabling comments, will be considered.
