Absinthe, the green fairy, a liqueur derived from wormwood, anise and fennel, was once thought to cause madness, hallucinations and violent crime, was banned in the US, France and most of Europe by 1915 until it encountered a popular revival some 75 years later. One distinguishing characteristic of the spirit is it's uncommonly pronounced louche which is the release of dissolved oils when diluted with water. Absinthe is one ingredient that makes a Sazerac a Sazerac. Today is National Absinthe Day, so for that french bohemian vibe throw on some jazz, check out some Manet, pour an absinthe over ice and just chill.

Major League Baseball's 2022 season may be up in the air, but for the last 143 years the Door County League has taken the field with few interruptions. I covered the annual Washington Island Islanders and Sister Bay Bays grudge match on Washington Island last year and it delivered all of the trimmings of the great American game.

Digging into the archives I came across what was maybe one of the most fulfilling editorial photo shoots I've done. I jumped onboard the Roamer in Sturgeon Bay and spent the morning photographing the guys hoisting nets full of whitefish from the bay of Green Bay. Many thanks to Charlie Henriksen and the crew at Henriksen Fisheries for always making me feel like family.
