Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction in South Dakota shattered records across several weight classes during their December 12, 2025 sale, headlining the nation's feeder market. The barn recorded the highest 8-weight sales in the country since October, with standout lots including 73 head at 805 lbs averaging $389.00/cwt and 51 head at 803 lbs bringing $379.00/cwt—both all-time barn highs.
Ft. Pierre also claimed four of the top ten 7-weight prices in barn history, including 27 head at 727 lbs at $400.00 and 17 head at 720 lbs for $395.00.
The top 6-weight sales at the barn on Friday included 99 head at 608 lbs commanding $444.00/cwt and 83 head at 628 lbs at $441.00—leading all other weight classes that day. In the lighter weights, Friday’s highest barn prices included 34 head at 500 lbs bringing $505.00/cwt, 47 head at 507 lbs at $500.00, and 120 head at 484 lbs topping the 4-weights at $550.00/cwt.
In total, Ft. Pierre moved over 3,300 head—the largest single-day sale in the nation on Friday—setting new benchmarks across multiple classes and reaffirming its role as one of the country’s premier feeder cattle auctions. #
