We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Rockland’s Jamie O’Connell after a courageous 12-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Jamie was a cherished friend and a beautiful soul who brought so much love and light to those around her. Above all, she was a devoted mother to Kensie and Kellan and a loving wife to Kevin. Her family was the center of her world.

Please keep Kevin, Kensie, Kellan, and all of Jamie’s family and loved ones in your prayers.

Jamie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. May she rest in peace. 🙏 A GoFundMe has been created to help support the family during this difficult time. Link in the comments below.

The annual Italian Feast & Carnival hosted by the Sons of Italy Rockland lodge returns to Masonic Park Fairgrounds in Tappan from September 10–13 for four days of authentic Italian food, carnival rides, games, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.

It’s always a great event that brings our community together to celebrate Italian culture and heritage. Hope to see you there! 🇮🇹

Just wanted to share a feel good story with you take a break from the craziness.

Last night my daughter and four of her girl friends went out to celebrate a birthday at the Cheesecake Factory in west Nyack. The girls decided to say “grace” at the table because they were thankful for their food and all they have. They held hands said a prayer and began to eat it.

When the waiter brought the check, a man and woman sitting at the table next to them witnessed that the girls prayed and proceeded to pay their entire $250.00 check. They wrote on the back of the check “John 3:16”, “Jesus loves you”.
The girls were so taken back that there is this type of kindness in the world and more importantly said they will definitely pay it forward when the opportunity presents itself.

Now I’m not a very religious person but I am a very spiritual person and I do believe in the power of what you put out into the universe is what you will receive from the universe.

So as a mother, thank you to those kind people who were good to my child. I will make it a point to pay it forward when I have the chance because everyone is someone’s child.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to Vincent (Vince) Altieri, a valued member of the Rockland County community who passed away in 2025.

Vince dedicated 18 years of service to Rockland County, beginning his career in the County in 2007 within the Executive's Office as the Intergovernmental Relations Director before going on to serve as the Executive Director of the Drainage Agency for approximately 14 years. Prior to joining Rockland County, Vince worked with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), where he also made lasting contributions to environmental stewardship. Vince also served as a Judge in the Village of Spring Valley.

Vince is deeply missed in Rockland County.

We are very sad to share the news of the passing of Rockland native Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in “Remember the Titans,” “Heroes,” and “Nashville.” She has died at the age of 36.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her rep said in a statement to ABC News.

Hayden grew up in Palisades, NY, located in the Town of Orangetown. Please keep the Panettiere family in your prayers during this difficult time.
