Fridge upgrade update for Holly (2006 Monaco Camelot 40PDQ) 👇

I swapped out the original RV refrigerator for a Samsung RF18 residential-style fridge. It’s a much nicer setup, but it did take some cabinet work to make it fit correctly.

Big change so far: I had to remove the drawer that used to be underneath the old fridge. To build the new base/platform, I repurposed the horizontal wood piece that was originally on top of the drawer support, which gave me enough clearance underneath for the coach’s wiring to pass safely.

The fridge is in and sitting where it needs to be. I haven’t finished the upper part of the compartment/cabinet yet—that’s next. More updates soon as I finish up the top trim/fit and get everything looking factory again.

After a lot of thought, I’m making a shift in The Boujee Bus project.

The original plan was a full ground-up bus conversion. That process was valuable and clarified what I actually want long-term, but the time, cost, and complexity no longer align with where I am right now.

So the project is pivoting, not ending.

Meet Holly.
Holly is a 2006 Monaco Camelot 40PDQ, and she is very much a real Boujee Bus.

This page will stay active, but the focus will change:
• Less raw fabrication and structural build work
• More real-world RV ownership, upgrades, systems, and refinements
• Practical lessons from living with the systems, not just designing them

The core goal hasn’t changed: a mobile, comfortable, well-engineered setup that supports real life instead of consuming it.

From here on out, this page documents Holly’s evolution; improvements, fixes, lessons learned, and the reality of making a high-end coach work the way I want it to.

More to come.

It feels like it's been forever since my last post. So many little tasks have been completed, but no single phase is worthy of the page.

But while we wait for that to happen, I tested blacking out 2 windows, and it worked perfectly.

It took 3 coats of Rustolium Professional flat black enamel, and turned out perfectly. The only light that can make it through is through the frame, which is getting sealed later.

Wheel Well Update — First Real Progress!

After what felt like forever in demolition mode, I finally got to build something instead of tearing it apart. The wheel wells are officially insulated and sealed!

I cleaned everything down to the stainless steel, pressure-washed with Simple Green Pro HD, and wiped it all with alcohol. I set 2″ rigid foam in the deep spots with marine adhesive, filled every little gap with low-expansion foam, then added a ½″ EPS layer on top to create a tight seal and v***r barrier. I taped all the seams and loosely packed Rockwool above for sound and extra insulation. It already feels quieter and more solid.

Next up: running the propane line for the toilet before I close this section up for good.

Feels amazing to see real progress after months of prep and demo. Photos below!

Better than I expected. Removed the upper holding tank and found a surprise.

Fortunately, it wasn’t stinky. But I do have some more room inside the bus for some type of storage. I’m looking for some good ideas what I can do with this extra space. Feel free to share ideas.

The day finally came to get the last of the major demo junk hauled away. I can't thank or recommend Amy or her husband from JDog Junk Removal & Hauling of Virginia Beach for coming out on a Saturday to get rid of my mess. A great feeling to have the interior of the bus ready for me to start building, and hard to believe months of work and mess making was cleaned up in less than an hour.

Here are some close-ups of what's underneath the center floor section. This is after I swept. Some serious dirt inside the AC return air ducts.

I am repurposing these to be part of what will be the central AC system.
