Two friends, Charles and Morris, get into the art of filmmaking because they just picked up a camera and started to have fun. They are from poor families and so they have to get earn all the money themselves for their hobby. They lack money and the way to get better equipment but have the same dream of doing this for their career. Charles and Morris audition for A Christmas Carol and get cast. Old Man Williams, who gets the part of Scrooge, owns a shop and let's the boys use it as their "studio". There are a couple of bonding scenes throughout the movie but the biggest one is the fixing up of the studio. The boys invite Susie and Jenny "ginger" Snaps over to help paint. Susie teaches Morris how to waltz as Charles and Jenny banter back and forth about poetry. As Jenny is riding home, she gets into a car accident because of the ice on the road. She is in a coma, and because of that, in the hospital and has to be on life support. Charles feels like it's all his fault but presses forward because of what she has told him to do right before she left that night. The next couple months, Charles and Morris find themselves with the equipment and programs necessary to get things done right. They use the school's computer and have used eBay to their advantage to get a boom mic and clap board and other necessities. Charles has sort of hardened himself towards all other people, but Morris can sometimes break that shell. They get their film shown at a theater that they're both in A Christmas Carol in after the the performing nights are over. Morris gets a phone call right as their movie is starting to show that Jenny just passed away. This makes Morris really depressed because he had always had hope that she'd come out of a coma. Charles comforts him while in mourning but they press on.
