In this article, we discuss the pedestrian bridge across Highway 20. A plan for pedestrians crossing Highway 20 has been around for a couple of decades - now we can make it a reality.

We have a few road rivers in our city - Highway 20, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and the railroad impede pedestrian access. We'll have an opportunity to bridge one in October.

On Monday, Sugar Hill City Council will consider a bid for about $400,000 to do repairs to about 300 feet of streambank along Richland Creek in Gary Pirkle Park.

In this article, we go through the history and ask the question about what the future of the park should be given the flooding and streambank restoration costs that the city has incurred in the last few years.

I hope you find this first article on Sugar Hill's "The Riverlands" interesting and enlightening. The article covers the history of the north tract - about 100 acres adjacent to the city's golf course. It covers the acquisition of the property in the 80s, the proposed "Global Sports" development in the late 2000s/early 2010s and the current efforts of the city's Riverlands Authority to provide public access to the property.

The 2011 update continued the foundation building for downtown Sugar Hill with major construction on public infrastructure including the Bowl, City Hall and West Broad Street. We also see the first mention of an "aging in place community"!

2010 and 2011 was a year of transition with major city construction downtown and preparations for the widening of Highway 20 that included the unfortunate removal of a critical infrastructure piece.

Denise Hoell's second article on Third Places explores them in downtown City of Sugar Hill, Georgia! The Dawn P Gober Community Plaza, Splash Park and the E Center's Promenade are part of what makes Sugar Hill a Strong Community!

The Promenade and the Dawn P Gober Memorial Plaza are two perfect examples of local Third Places in downtown Sugar Hill.
