The day I learned what those side screws really do for this microphone! They hold the diaphragm in place!

I always wondered what the deal was with the little screws that stuck out the sides of Violet Designs Globe mic. When I went to listen to this mic, it sounded roomy, ambient, not at all cardioid. Also lack of high frequency information. The intern Robbie and I were perplexed how this mic sounded so strange. Rotating the mic produced a clunk and I could feel the capsules density as it clhnked with each rotation so we performed surgery to find it was indeed dislocated and the set screws outside were actually diaphgram support screws. Very clever and dangerous for people like me who turn k***s for fun.
