100 Things...Got mail? It was not until the mid-1950's that Sugar Land was big enough to have mail delivery. There was a tiny postal facility located at the executive offices of Imperial Sugar, next to the char house.

Today, we also begin a series of posts about Sugar Land. The series is titled "100 Things You Might Not Know About Sugar Land". This is a great way to learn more about who we are. So here we go. Happy Landings! Did you know that the last man to walk on the moon was also the first man to land at Sugar Land Regional Airport with the assistance of a brand-new control tower. Captain Gene Cernan loved our airport.

So, you know how spring brings things to life in Sugar Land. This spring is no exception. What we really missed, was the chance to get together. The Heritage Friends began in 2018, and took a long break with COVID, restarted in 2022, and we are moving ahead with an in-person social on Thursday, May 1st at the museum. Our Kick-off social will feature a video of Margie Taylor. Margie is a life-long Sugar Land resident who is married to Ernest Taylor, former City of Sugar Land Police Chief. Her story is inspiring. We are also excited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Char House and the Water Tower this summer by celebrating Sugar Land Community Life. We're back and we invite you to help us get the word out. More to come...

As President and Partner of Houston-based RADIO LOUNGE, Ray’s commitment to quality media content has earned him much respect by his contemporaries over the past three decades. With a career in radio programming and operation management which took him around the country, and a tireless dedication to supporting the American Advertisng Federation, Ray is a truly special and deserving recipient.
