Well, not every camping trip can be the perfect camping trip. We have been here since Wednesday, and we’re suppose to check out tomorrow.

However, we’ll be packing up this morning and heading back. Adalynn has been in the camper since Thursday, sick. She has been coughing since before that. Zoey is having ear troubles and also coughing.

The weather is not cooperating and it’s too cold for the other two to enjoy themselves without the fear of them also getting sick. Especially with Leigha’s recent spike in health. We are at 29 degrees this morning with a real feel of 24 degrees.

So with it in our best interest we are going to pack up this morning and head home for rest. Mom and Dad are exhausted with being up nearly every hour with Adalynn.

While not the perfect trip we have throughly enjoyed our time together and away these last few days.

🦃🍂 Thanksgiving Camping Adventure: Stocking the Fridge Like a Pro! 🍂🦃

This year, we’re doing Thanksgiving a little differently—outdoors! 🏕️ As we gear up for an unforgettable camping trip, our fridge (and cooler) needs to be prepped for a feast-worthy adventure. Here’s how we’re tackling the grocery haul for this special occasion:

1️⃣ Plan Ahead for the Feast

We’ve mapped out a Thanksgiving menu that blends tradition with campfire creativity. Think Crockpot Ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and maybe even a pumpkin pie hack!

2️⃣ Prioritize Fridge Space

With limited cooler and fridge space, we’re focusing on essentials:
• Ham: Because we are ham folks mmkay.
• Veggies: uou could Pre-chop and store these in reusable containers or bags.
• Dairy: Butter, cream, and cheese (for mashed potatoes and stuffing).
• Drinks: A mix of water, festive drinks, and coffee creamers.

3️⃣ Smart Packing Tips

• Prep Ingredients at Home: This saves time and space. (Pre-chopped onions, garlic, and even pre-mixed spice blends!)
• Use Stackable Containers: They fit neatly into the fridge or cooler and prevent leaks.
• Freeze What You Can: Frozen gravy or broth doubles as an ice pack!

4️⃣ Don’t Forget the Everyday Staples

Camping classics like eggs, bacon, pancake mix, and s’mores essentials are still a must. Plus, snacks to keep everyone happy while the feast comes together.

5️⃣ Extras for the Celebration Vibes

Adding a few extra touches to make the holiday special:
• Festive tablecloth
• String lights for cozy ambiance
• A pre-made pie or easy campfire dessert

Stargazing in the Fall: A Guide to Celestial Adventures

As the air cools and the skies clear, fall is one of the best times of the year to enjoy stargazing. With longer nights, crisp air, and vibrant autumn landscapes as a backdrop, it’s the perfect season to look up and experience the wonder of the cosmos. Here’s everything you need to make your fall stargazing adventure unforgettable!

Why Stargaze in the Fall?
1. Clear Skies: Cooler temperatures reduce humidity and atmospheric turbulence, making the skies clearer and offering better visibility of stars and planets.
2. Longer Nights: As the days grow shorter, you have more time to enjoy stargazing. Dusk arrives earlier, giving you plenty of evening hours to observe the night sky.
3. Special Celestial Events: Fall is packed with exciting astronomical events, including meteor showers and the visibility of key constellations and planets.

Tips for a Successful Fall Stargazing Experience
1. Choose the Right Location: Find a dark sky location away from city lights. National parks, rural areas, or designated dark-sky preserves are great places to start.

2. Check the Weather: Clear, cloudless nights are ideal for stargazing, so be sure to check the forecast. Apps like "Clear Outside" can help predict stargazing conditions.

3. Dress Warmly: Fall nights can get chilly, especially the later you stay out. Layer up with thermal gear, a hat, gloves, and warm boots to stay comfortable.

4. Bring the Right Gear:
- Binoculars or a Telescope: Binoculars are great for beginners and help you spot more celestial objects. For a closer look, a telescope will reveal incredible details.
- Star Map or App: Use a printed star chart or a stargazing app like "SkyView" or "Star Walk" to identify stars, constellations, and planets.
- Red Flashlight: Preserve your night vision with a red-light flashlight so you can read your star chart without ruining your ability to see the stars.

5. Be Patient: Stargazing is all about slowing down and appreciating the vastness of the universe. Take your time, let your eyes adjust to the dark, and enjoy the peacefulness of the night.

Upcoming Celestial Events in Fall 2024
- Orionid Meteor Shower: October 21-22
- Partial Lunar Eclipse: October 17-18
- Leonid Meteor Shower: November 16-17

Stargazing in the fall offers a magical blend of breathtaking celestial views and tranquil moments in nature. Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or just beginning, this season invites you to step outside, look up, and connect with the stars.

Be sure to share all your astronomy 🔭 photos with us here at The Scenic Six.

Autumn is a magical time for camping and hiking, not just for the colorful foliage but also for the unique wildlife experiences it brings.

Here’s what to look out for and how to stay safe while enjoying nature during this season.

🦌 Deer Activity Increases
During fall, deer are especially active due to mating season (the rut). You may spot more of them while hiking, especially at dawn or dusk. Be mindful of their presence, as bucks can be territorial during this period.

🐻 Bears Preparing for Hibernation
Bears are busy foraging as much as possible in the fall to build up fat for winter hibernation. They might be more visible in camping areas, especially where food is readily available.

🦉 Birdwatching Opportunities
Autumn is a great time to spot migratory birds as they head south for the winter. Hawks, owls, and other birds of prey are also more active, as cooler temperatures make hunting easier. Bring a pair of binoculars as it can make all the difference when observing birds in their fall habitats.

🦡 Small Mammals Gathering Supplies
Squirrels, chipmunks, and other small mammals are busy collecting food for the colder months. You’ll see them scurrying around gathering nuts and seeds. They’re not a threat, but don’t leave food out at your campsite, as it could attract more than just squirrels!

🦊 Foxes and Coyotes Becoming More Active
Foxes and coyotes often increase their activity in the fall as they prepare for the winter months ahead. You may hear foxes barking or coyotes howling in the distance, especially in more remote camping areas.

🐝 Insects Start to Dwindle
The cooler weather means fewer mosquitoes and ticks, making fall one of the best seasons for camping and hiking. However, watch out for bees and wasps, as they’re still active in early fall, looking for food sources before the cold sets in.

Hey Hey we’ve made it to HUMP DAY!
If your here for daily post we’ve made it to

centers it’s attention around camper wellness facts, tips, and tricks. Today, we’re diving in the nitty and gritty of black tanks, because no one likes it when the sh**ter is full or inoperative.

Managing the black tank in a camper is crucial for a smooth and comfortable camping experience. Here are five tips and tricks:
1. Regular Maintenance: Regularly flush and clean the black tank to prevent buildup and odors. Use specialized RV tank cleaners and deodorizers to maintain cleanliness. Also be sure you are regularly checking your seals to ensure a tight seal between the tank and the drain outlet.

2. Use Biodegradable Products: opt for biodegradable toilet paper and RV-friendly chemicals to minimize environmental impact and prevent clogs. Some campers use special tank additives to break down waste and control odors. Be sure what you use is suitable for your black tank.

3. Monitor Tank Levels: Keep an eye on the tank levels using built-in gauges or external sensors. Empty the tank before it reaches full capacity to avoid overflow and potential mess.

4. Proper Disposal: Always empty the black tank at designated dump stations or RV parks with dumping facilities. Follow proper procedures and guidelines for waste disposal.

5. Practice Proper Flushing: After emptying the tank, flush it thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue. Some campers have built-in tank flushing systems for convenience. Avoid flushing anything other than human waste and RV toilet paper.
