"The first Pierce Volterra electric pumper to be delivered on the East Coast (per Pierce news release) has been placed in service in Wake County, NC, in the Town of Cary.

New Engine 9 is a 2025 Pierce Enforcer Volterra, 1500/500, that operates fully on electric power. It also has a diesel engine for back-up power.

The truck was delivered in April 2025 and placed in service on June 9, 2025. It fought its first fire on June 30, pumping on electric power for three hours at a residential structure fire."
