A New Chapter in Motion – Miami City Ballet Opens Its 40th Anniversary Season

Last night, Miami City Ballet officially opened its 40th Anniversary Season with a vibrant program celebrating innovation, movement, and artistic legacy.

Under the vision of its new Artistic Director, Gonzalo García, the company presented three works by Tony Award–winning choreographer Justin Peck, two of which were created exclusively for MCB.

Among them, Heatscape inspired by the iconic Wynwood Walls brought the energy of Miami’s street art and youthful pulse to the stage, merging dance, design, and emotion in a seamless choreography of color and light.

Guests arrived early to experience the special lobby activations, immersing themselves in the creative atmosphere that makes Miami City Ballet not just a performance, but a cultural happening.

An unforgettable start to a milestone season and a powerful reminder that art in Miami continues to evolve, inspire, and move us all.

A Look Back at This Weekend with Miami City Ballet

Yesterday we had the honor of experiencing an incredible program celebrating Miami City Ballet’s 40th season, under the artistic direction of Gonzalo Garcia. Three masterful works by Tony Award Winner Justin Peck, including Heatscape, inspired by Wynwood Walls, transported us into a world of art, movement, and creativity.

BTS Miami covers FALL MIX PECK: Miami in Motion at Miami City Ballet

Miami, FL This Friday, October 17th at 7:30 pm, BTS Miami will be covering FALL MIX PECK: Miami in Motion at the Arsht Center, Miami. The program showcases three contemporary dance works by acclaimed choreographer David Peck, known for his dynamic and visually striking style:
1. Year of the Rabbit (2012) – choreographed by Peck
2. Chutes and Ladders (2013) – Peck set to music by Britten
3. Heatscape – Peck with music by Martinů

The evening promises a contemporary dance experience blending movement, innovative choreography, light interaction, and modern music. The audience is expected to be a mix of dance enthusiasts, critics, and press, creating an elegant yet relaxed cultural atmosphere.

MIAMI BEACH HONORS GLORIA ESTEFAN WITH A STREET IN HER NAME

Miami Beach paid a heartfelt tribute to the “Queen of Latin Pop,” Gloria Estefan , by renaming 13th Street near Ocean Drive in her honor. The ceremony, held this Monday at 11 a.m., was a vibrant celebration of one of South Florida’s most beloved icons.

Fans, visitors, and local figures gathered to celebrate Gloria’s extraordinary impact on music and her deep roots in the Miami community. Just steps away stands the Cardozo Hotel, a South Beach landmark co-owned and operated by Gloria and her husband, the legendary Emilio Estefan a symbol of their enduring love and dedication to the city that shaped their journey.

The event, recommended by the Miami Beach Women’s Commission, was followed by a joyful brunch honoring her legacy. Among the distinguished guests were the maestro Eduardo Marturet and his inseparable wife Athina Marturet , Omer Pardillo , and many others who came together to celebrate this milestone day.
