Last night Sunnyside Police Officers responded to the 29700 block of Yakima Valley Highway for a three car collision. Upon arrival, officers found a blue Dodge Caravan flipped on the driver’s side with heavy front end damage. Preliminary investigation determines that a Dodge Ram pickup and the Caravan were heading east bound with the Caravan traveling behind the pickup. A Ford F350 was traveling west bound on YVH when they crossed the center line and struck the Dodge Ram first and then the Caravan.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan, a 57 year old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the F350 sustained critical but non life threatening injuries that required him to be transported to a hospital out of the area.

Officers determined that the 26 year old male driver of the F350 was under the influence and will be charged with Vehicular Assault x 2 and Vehicular Homicide.

Thank you to Washington State Patrol for the assistance and providing the accident reconstruction tools necessary to scan the collision scene.
