MY NEIGHBOR REFUSED TO PAY MY SON FOR MOWING HER LAWN — SHE DIDN'T SEE MY PAYBACK COMING.

So, my neighbor moved in a few months ago. She's the type who keeps to herself and barely acknowledges anyone. I didn't think much of it until my 12-year-old son, Ethan, came home drenched in sweat one day, saying she asked him to mow her gigantic lawn and promised to pay him $20. And he was happy because he was saving up for his grandma's present.

It took him two whole days. But I noticed Ethan seemed down. I asked him what was wrong, and he said quietly, "She hasn't paid me yet. She said… she said I SHOULD GET LOST. She said… she said that the lesson I learned from mowing her lawn should be enough. That learning to be hardworking is the payment. She said I should be grateful."

That was it. That was the moment my blood boiled over. This woman—this arrogant, self-righteous businesswoman—had tricked my son into doing hours of hard work, only to refuse to pay him?

I COMPLAINED ABOUT MY NEW NEIGHBORS' HORRIBLE FOUNTAIN & RECEIVED A THREATENING NOTE FROM THEM.

Our neighborhood was perfect—peaceful, friendly, like something out of a Hallmark movie. Neighbors shared cookies, helped with babysitting, waved at each other every morning. And then, NEW NEIGHBORS arrived.

A truck pulled up to the abandoned house at the end of the street in the dead of night. No greetings. No introductions. Just loud noises and shadows moving in the dark. The next day, I brought over some homemade baked goods, trying to be neighborly. The woman who opened the door looked... unwell. Pale, exhausted, almost sickly. She stared at me like I was the threat. Then, she wrinkled her nose and muttered, “Ew, it smells awful.”

That was only the beginning.

Days later, she installed a massive gothic fountain in her yard—towering, eerie, and worst of all, LOUD. The constant gurgling and shrieking water kept the whole street awake. When I asked her to remove it, she just smirked and shut the door in my face.

I TOOK IN A BEGGAR WITH A BABY BECAUSE SHE REMINDED ME OF MY LATE DAUGHTER — ONE AFTERNOON, I RETURNED HOME EARLIER THAN USUAL.

At 75, my days were quiet, filled with memories of the past. My daughter, Gianna, had passed away three years ago, leaving a hole in my heart. My son, Sebastian, lived far away, and visits were rare. The house felt empty.

I FOUND OUT THAT MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW SENDS HER KIDS TO VISIT ME AS A PUNISHMENT — SO I TALKED THEM INTO MY PLAN
'We are only here because you ate that candy Mom told you not to!' I heard my grandson say to his young brother.
I double-checked to make sure I heard correctly, then walked closer and asked him what he meant.
'Well, every time we mess up, Mom says she WILL SEND US TO "THAT WITCHES' HOUSE."
That witch?! I knew my daughter-in-law did not like me, but why bring the kids into this? I try my best to ensure they have a good time at my place. I always wanted my grandkids to feel safe here. And now, to find out it's all ruined because of my daughter-in-law's bitterness?
"Oh, honey, I never wanted you to think of my home as a punishment. You don't have to come if you don't want to," I managed to say with a shaky voice.
"We like it here! Mom just told us we can get cursed here. And being cursed is scary," he replied.

I HEARD A YOUNG WOMAN ON THE STREET SINGING THE SAME SONG MY DAUGHTER USED TO SING BEFORE SHE WENT MISSING 17 YEARS AGO, SO I WENT CLOSER.

I was walking home from work when I suddenly heard THAT song.

I stumbled in surprise — a young woman was singing.

Hearing those words, memories surged through my mind like a storm.

How does that girl know this song? It's not one you hear often. I slowly turned toward her.

My heart was racing. With legs that felt like they could barely move, I approached her and locked my gaze on her, while she, unaware of my presence, sang the song with her eyes closed and a smile on her face.

She had dark hair and delicate features.

Oh goodness, my daughter, Lily, used to smile just like that, and the dimple in her cheek was just like my wife Cynthia's. I thought that my daughter would probably look the same. She had disappeared 17 years ago at the age of five, but the pain of losing her never went away.

Then it hit me like a bolt of electricity. WHAT IF THIS IS MY DAUGHTER? I felt sweat trickling down my entire body. I shouldn't do anything I might regret later, I thought. Of course, the girl looks similar, but she might not be Lily, so don't start hoping in vain, I told myself.

MY FIANCÉ RAN AWAY FROM OUR WEDDING & SHOWED UP AT MY DAD'S OFFICE THE NEXT DAY.

Imagine thinking everything's perfect, only to have it fall apart in a heartbeat. That was me. For the past few years, I’ve been struggling with my weight. No matter what I did, those extra pounds just wouldn’t budge! The thing is, I’m a pastry chef, and you can imagine that tasting everything is part of the job. And my husband, Bryce... well, he didn’t make things any easier.
Most women hope for support from their partner, but mine never missed a chance to mock me. When I put on my new dress, he said, "TAKE IT OFF! BUY YOURSELF A GYM MEMBERSHIP." And then he called his friends and laughed, making jokes about my weight, and thinking I couldn’t hear.

ENTITLED MECHANIC TRIES TO SCAM ME, BUT INSTANTLY RECEIVES A LIFELONG LESSON IN RETURN.

I don't look like I know much about cars — I'm 5'3, long blonde hair, with a girly appearance. I drive a beat-up 2004 Avalon. Recently, I took my car in for an oil change.

After the oil change, the mechanic returned with "inspection results," holding my air filter with a grave look. He claimed my car needed $1500 worth of repairs ASAP, including new brake pads, rotors, calipers, a serpentine and drive belts, a new air filter, and a new compressor. He showed me my air filter filled with dead grass, a wasp, dirt, and hair — obviously scooped from the shop floor.

I IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT TO DO. I started buying time by asking basic questions like, "What does the serpentine belt do? Is it important? Etc." Then I⬇️
