If you had told me back at the start of the year that the Florida Panthers would be playoff-bound, even as the 8th seed wildcard, I wouldn’t have believed you. If you told me they were the Eastern Conference Champions and would be playing in the finals, I would have laughed right in your face. Yet here we are. After a heroic effort in the dying weeks of regular season, a seemingly heaven-sent game between the Penguins and Blackhawks, goaltending from the hockey gods themselves, and the star players actually showing up when it counts… here we are....

The Florida Panthers played host to this year's All-Star Weekend here in Sunrise, Fl. The events were split between FLA Live Arena and the beach, with a spattering of events taking place in other venues locally. Highlights included the All-Star Beach Festival, the Alumni Game, the Mascot Breakfast, and of course, the main events: The Skills Competition and the All-Star Games....

The first half of the season went just about as poorly as possible for the Panthers. Falling to below .500, losing key players to injury time and time again, being on the receiving end of terrible bounces, missed (or bogus) calls, shoddy goaltending, seemingly non-existent defense, stifled offense... it was a recipe for disaster. The All-Star break has come and gone, and now the Cats look to the last section of the season....
