Haiti returned to the World Cup on June 13 for the first time since 1974, falling 1-0 to Scotland in Boston on a first-half John McGinn goal. Haiti appealed for a penalty after a handball incident, which was not awarded by referee Mustapha Ghorbal, and supporters objected to a late high challenge by Scotland’s Kenny McLean that drew only a yellow card.
Now, supporters are backing a petition urging FIFA and its Referees Committee to review the match and set up a process for examining disputed games. More than 140,000 people have signed.
