Wax Logic Album #3 is going to be released soon. I have been writing for it all year, focusing on instrumental arrangements that are full of emotion, grooving, interesting, tight but loose, incorporating probably 40% funk, 30% jamband, 20% jazz hip hop, and 10 percent everything else: bluegrass, death metal, electronic, rock. I've also been collaborating with an incredible sax/flute player, so the horns are so on point.
I've also stepped up both my equipment and my education as an audio engineer, so the quality of these recordings is improving immensely.
I have been waiting years to do exactly what I am doing--- have a functional recording studio available 24/7 and to write. I suppose I am writing to have material to play live in the future (although I dissolved the live band last year and went on a hiatus as a band leader to focus on my own life, it became too unbalanced.)
I was worried that I would suck when I got sober. The truth is, it has been challenging. I have had to work not just to maintain playing 4 instruments, but to completely reevaluate my love and my relationship to music itself, it's role in my life now, and figure out what inspires me. I've had to apply discipline to my routines, and also work to have a balanced lifestyle. I am very grateful that my interest in making music has endured. Things are different now, in such a positive way.
I love music, and recording It has always fascinated me. I am delightfully resigned to creating music for the rest of my lifetime. Thank you for listening.
