January 2026 marks 60 years on the air for WSSU/KUWS Radio 91.3 serving the Superior area. Thank you to everyone who has supported the radio stations through the decades starting back in 1966. Special thank you & appreciation to the UW-Superior students, faculty, staff & alumni that have worked at the station over those years and made the airwaves informative & fun. We would especially like to thank our partners at Wisconsin Public Radio that have supported this region & station when the partnership first started on campus in 1988. The mission remains the same as in 1966 to entertain & inform the community, region & campus here at UWS. We will celebrate the station over the air throughout the year. A very special shout-out & thank you to the businesses & underwriters who have made this all possible over the decades. 2026 will be a year to celebrate the success of WSSU/KUWS and we invite you to join us in October for the UWS ALL-School Reunion on Oct. 2 & 3. Meanwhile enjoy three Yellowjacket games on KUWS today as we continue to showcase local programming with Yellowjacket student-athletes in basketball & hockey coverage.
