DRUM ROLL PLEASE; the SUPERIOR CROWN SLED DOG SERIES has entered the chute...
After a terrible 2024 where many races across the country were cancelled, 2025 was awesome as we were able to run all five races that comprise the series with the Tahquamenon Country 10-dog Pro, The UP200, & Midnight Run, and the CopperDog 150 & CopperDog 80! OH, YEAH!
Rules are pretty simple; mushers are to enter three events and compete and FINISH the TC10P, the UP200 -or- MNR, and the CD150 -or- CD80. Points are awards using a formulation of involving the number of dogs and the distance of each race - see below.
So for 2025 ten mushers entered and completed the TC10P and automatically became eligible to participate! But in the end only four mushers finished the three events they entered!!
- Haleigh Bonk - TC10P, MNR, & CD150
- Joann Fortier - TC10P, MNR, & CD80
- Lynne Witte - TC10P, MNR, & CD80
- Mike Bestgen - TC10P, MNR, & CD150
Congratulations to all finishers but in special to SCSDS winner Joann Fortier for running a flawless season!
First time finishers receive the most beautiful series patch (it's seven inches in diameter) and all mushers receive a smaller patch for the year they participated! And participated we mean; FINISHED all three events they entered.
There is a purse... and as of now it's US$3,000. But with the exposure and growth of the SCSDS, we hope to bring this number up as we attract more mushers! The three events are on a simple mission; to make the Upper Peninsula Mushing Circuit the best around!
Doubt us? Well, you can watch from the outside as we make things happen in Newberry, Marquette, and Calumet. 😉
