Kestrel Aerial Video is proud to announce our compliance under the new FAA CFR Part 107 governing the use of sUAS (small unmanned aerial systems) for commercial purposes, after company Co-founder and Pilot-In-Command Tommy Garrison completed the exam awarding him an Airman Certificate with sUAS Rating. This certification is required by law for anyone acting as PIC of a sUAS for commercial purposes.

Hello all. Yes we're still here, just haven't done a good job with the whole social media thing. We have been busy and I'm going to devote more time to Facebook to let you know what we've been up to. I'll start with our very latest project. We were contacted by Scott McElrath of H. Scott & Associates in Brevard, NC. They now controls the 550+ acres in Etowah know infamously by many in the AVL area as 7 Falls. Well it's been renamed, Squawkiss Valley Farm and is now up for sale. Much more to come!

FAA announces UAS registration task force members
AUVSI Advocacy (11/03/2015)

Last week, Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Michael Huerta announced the members of the UAS Registration Task Force. The complexities involved in developing a system that will accomplish what the FAA is seeking require really smart innovative minds, of which many have been assembled. They include Earl Lawrence, FAA's UAS Integration Office director, and Dave Vos of Google[X], a member of the AUVSI board of directors. They will Co-Chair the task force.

Also include, AUVSI President and CEO Brian Wynne, AUVSI members Ben Gielow and Sean Cassidy of Amazon, Brendan Schulman of DJI, Gregory McNeal of AirMap and Tyler Collins of PrecisionHawk are among many others.

As AUVSI members Kestrel Aerial Video support the efforts of the task force and have every confidence that a working system will be established and put into place as quickly as possible. Education is certain to be at the forefront of this process, as it should be. Just a big list of people who buy drones won't accomplish anything.

This past Wednesday a Senate Appropriations Committee heard testimony from FAA Adminstrator Michael P. Huerta on the progress made towards the integration of UAS into the national airspace. They also heard testimony from Marty Rogers, Deputy Director Alliance for System Safety of UAS about the research being conducted on UAS technology which is crucial for implementation of regulations that will maintain public safety and privacy while allowing for the growth of UAS to fully reap the economic growth this industry will generate. Also heard, ALPA President Captain Tim Canoll who's testimony reiterates some of the challenges and complexities associated with full UAS integration. We will continue to keep you informed. Hear for yourself, the link is still active.
