Winter weather is definitely here!

I had eggs I'd put in the incubator. All but two were duds and the remaining two do not look that promising. I will be trying again with a fresh dozen as soon as I'm sure the last two will not hatch.

I try to do my keeping hatching during the winter months so by the time spring comes around I have ones that are 4-5 months of age. They will start laying before summer hits and then take a molt break. Some times they don't even do that, but that's my thoughts on what I'd *like* to see happen. Even working Silkies need time off!

I will hopefully be palpating for a litter of F1 Mini Plush Lops soon. I'm not going to hold my breath but I can hope. If she palpates negative, she will be immediately rebred. I have plans to evaluate and breed Holland Lops this coming month after I get a few more empty spaces set up.

Finally a breeding!

I've been trying for weeks to get back to my normal and have some babies but without any luck. I finally got a litter bred for. They aren't exactly what I was wanting but better than a doe setting and no litter. These will be F1 Mini Plus Lops with making head shape and ear thickness better in mind. They will be out of a lilac Holland Lop doe and a black otter VM Mini Plush Lop buck. I will not be advertising the offspring most likely and will only be contacting those that are on my pet list that have been waiting. If you are not on this list and want to be, send a message and I'll send you the information you'll need and application. I'm going to not completely do away with pet homing, but I'm not just going to do as I have been as I'm burnt out on it to be honest.

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm stuck indoors and down for the count this year but I hope every one is enjoying their feasts and activities!

I am helping out a friend. They are looking to place a bashful boy. He's okay with being handled but not overly cuddly. I can make sure he gets any where from Gassaway are to Clarksburg along I-79. There is an agreement required to be kept as pet only and to be returned if any thing happens that he can't stay with his new family as they do not want him going for food/bad purposes.

These two bucks are looking for new pastures. They are currently together.

Wahoooo the egg strike is over! It finally happened after about 2 months of a hard molt. The silkies have started laying again and I'm absolutely ecstatic. Despite what others might think, chickens do go through periods where they don't lay because of molting or stress even. Stress can be as simple as a weather change or if their pen or area is changed in any way....this can even be a new feeder.

What does a feed tag look like? That's a good question. Usually you can find them at the bottom of the bag of feed. They often have the company as well as an analysis of the feed itself plus an extensive list of ingredients. The ingredients list them in order from most used to least used. I've included in the picture copy of my bags feed tag.
