Call for Submissions

We’re seeking manuscripts that linger—stories and poems that give us goosebumps, raise the hairs on the back of our necks, and refuse to let go. Send us your most poignant, breathtaking, or unforgettable writing.

We especially welcome work from underrepresented voices—writers whose perspectives and experiences have been overlooked or unheard. Surprise us. Challenge us. Make us feel something we can’t shake.

What We’re Looking For:

Fiction (up to three chapters) + Entire Table of Contents
Nonfiction (up to three chapters) + Entire Table of Contents
Poetry (up to five poems) + Entire Table of Contents

(Manuscripts with pictures/images will NOT be considered during this round.)

Submission Guidelines:

Please send your work as a PDF attachment.
Double-spaced
Use a 12 pt, readable font.
In the body of your email, include a short synopsis of your project.
Email your submission to [email protected].
In the email subject line indicate, “Poetry Submission,” “Prose Submission,” or “Nonfiction Submission.”

We respond to every submission. If you haven’t heard from us within three months, please feel free to inquire—otherwise, take comfort in knowing we’ll be in touch.

“As the shovel lifted one of the layers, Cash saw a half-moon trough impressed in the clay hanging from his bucket. A flash of white in the hole made him stop the machine. How could a root be that deep in the clay? As he jumped off his power shovel, Littlejohn ran to his side. They slid across the clay and stopped at the tubular object. It wasn’t a root. Lying with half its profile exposed above a veneer of sand, a six-foot ivory tusk glistened in the sunlight.” —from Mystery Tusk by Gary Hoyle

Conjuring My Mother

I’ll use anything for conjuring—
An old baked bean recipe
Written in my mother’s hand
Wishing that I somehow could
Be the very paper on which she’d writ molasses.

“For those that a journey is impossible, time may quickly become the enemy. There may be many who will never recover and damage that can never be undone, and overall, a pall that will hang over us even when the renewing sun comes out to play, and it will prevail for a long time. But the one constant among us all, growing louder with the crowd expanding, was a mantra of gratitude at simply being alive after such an ordeal, a near euphoria brought on by survival.” --from Island Odyssey by Cheryl Blaydon

An UPDATE: NCP hired a media specialist who is helping to develop a social media presence which includes three programs (I will share the nature of these as we roll each out). In addition, our specialist will give our NCP website a facelift, so to speak, and reopen our online store so that sales will no longer be diverted to Amazon. In fact, a “shop now” button will be added to all NCP social media posts. Lastly, NCP has an Instagram and X account now. Please visit and spread the word. Regarding new manuscript submissions: VERY SOON! NCP has one more bold move (TBA) before we restart the publishing engines.
