Hugh Lee “Fargo” Robinson, 74, of Sweetwater, peacefully went to Heaven on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Fargo had spent the last 56 years as a devoted on-air radio personality for the same company, WDEH. His hard work, love and support from his community, led him to receiving a proclamation of “Fargo Day in Sweetwater” on June 12, 2012.
Fargo had always tried to serve the Lord as best he could. He became a minister himself and would travel to spread the word of the gospel whenever possible. He had just recently retired after losing his loving wife. He was struggling with his own health but was determined to get well and go back out traveling the country to minister. He didn’t get the opportunity, but God did see every step that Fargo took in preparation.
Fargo was married to his wife, Wilma, for 23 years before she passed away this past January. They truly loved one another, and they did not have to stay separated for long.
Fargo was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Robinson and Gladys Ellison Robinson; wife Wilma Broglin Robinson; daughter Lora Tuck; son James “Jimmy” Baker; brother Ralph Robinson; sister Betty Jean Thomas and brother in law; Mitchell Ray Kendall.
Fargo is survived by his two daughters Kathy Thweatt of Martin, TN; Lillie Alkhashti Cox (Todd); grandchildren Kayla Johnson, Christopher Alkhasti, Houston “Little Hugh” Alkhashti, Chase Thweatt, and Chelsea Thweatt. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters Evelyn Kuykendall of Sweetwater; Jane Wattanbarger (Glenn) of Niota; and Carol Cook (Clyde) of Old Fort; brother-in-laws Carl Thomas of Madisonville; and Lukie Larry Broglin of Sweetwater; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends that will miss him dearly.
Receiving of friends will be on Saturday March 22, 2025, at Sweetwater Memorial Park Chapel from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Larry Broglin officiating. Burial will be on Sunday March 23, 2025 at Sweetwater Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.
Sweetwater Memory Park is honored to serve the Robinson Family.
