Yes it was cold this morning .. low 40s around Long Island to start the last day of Summer.

Good morning everyone! The last few hours of summer are upon us as fall begins at 2:19 pm EDT, which is known as the Autumnal Equinox. We start the morning with a temperature of 41.4 degrees at the NWS NY office, our coldest morning temperature since 38 degrees on May 12, 2025. Afternoon temperatures will rise into the lower and middle 70s under mostly sunny skies as fall begins.
