Lekia Hill had always envisioned having her own company, not just a business. She wanted to “build something that would create a legacy for her and her family,” she says. In 2023, she launched Lekia Tech LLC, a business management and development consulting firm.

I am excited to share that on June 4th and 5th, the 2024 National Right to Food Summit will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church, located at 232 East Onondaga Street. This important event will bring together individuals and organizations dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food. You can find more information and register for the summit here.

On June 5th, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., I will have the honor of being one of the facilitators for the "Telling Our Stories: Food & Faith Narrative Workshop." During this workshop, facilitators will introduce themselves and share their personal journeys and motivations for helping others access food. The workshop aims to explore how implementing a right-to-food framework within church or worship spaces can overcome barriers and leverage opportunities.

My focus during the conversation will be on connecting faith leaders with the resources and networks available to support their communities' food needs. This is a critical aspect of building a system that effectively feeds our community.

I am reaching out to ask for your support in this summit and my part of the workshop. Whether you are interested in making connections, starting a church or community garden, or networking with others who are already engaged in this work, your participation would be invaluable. Together, we can strengthen our efforts and make a meaningful impact in the fight for the right to food.

Thank you for your support, and I hope to see you at the summit.

An important summit on the right to food right here in Syracuse starts tomorrow. Free and open to all.
