Coming up at 1:00 today on Saturday Opera, from the 2025 Salzburg Festival - Handel’s Giulio Cesare. It is perhaps one of Handel’s most popular operas, interpreting the story of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra’s first meeting. The choir in this performance is the Salzburg Bach Choir, directed by Michael Schneider. Emmanuelle Haïm leads Baroque ensemble Le Concert d’Astrée.

Saturday, October 11th at 4:12 PM Eastern Time, join us on WCNY Classic FM for "Opera Encore"! This week, our featured artist is Giuseppe DeLuca, pictured here in one of his great roles, Figaro in "The Barber of Seville". Legendary conductor Arturo Toscanini called him "absolutely the best baritone I ever heard". He was certainly one of the top baritones of the 20th century, and was a mainstay at the Met for 20 years! DeLuca sang from the 1890s to the 1940s in opera, recitals, and many recordings. He also created roles in operas by Cilea, Puccini, and more. You can hear him in music of Verdi, Cilea, and Rossini, as well as a short speech from his 1947 New York farewell recital. He's also in duets with his friend Enrico Caruso and soprano Amelita Galli-Curci.

Join us today at 1:00pm for the LA Opera production of Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" on Saturday Opera!
