I truly wonder if in several professions, adequate training could be accomplished in a 2 year crash course with no gen eds aka a specialized associates degree from a community college. Are expensive textbooks really helpful to learn?

Publishers say digital options make textbooks cheaper. Affordability advocates say it increases their stranglehold on the market.

Shifting demographics have posed challenges for many U.S. programs as declining birthrates change the calculus for keeping them afloat. Now, fallout from demographic change is hitting the higher education industry. The problems are most pronounced at historically black colleges and universities.

Why does grading not reflect preparedness for real life scenarios in the course subject matter? Maybe because it is based on the premise that you will be told what to do and that you are expected to follow the instructions/obey the rules? Success in life often comes from Initiative and breaking rules...that is exactly what entrepreneurs do!
