9th Wonder has confirmed a collaborative album with Black Thought is nearly finished. Speaking on Don Chenz's podcast, the producer said, "I just need one more verse from him, and we're done", a small but telling detail suggesting the project is in its final stretch. The pairing brings together two of hip-hop's most respected craftsmen: 9th Wonder's soulful, sample-driven production meets Black Thought's dense, technical lyricism. It's one of several collaborative records the Roots MC currently has in motion, alongside "Cheat Codes 2" with Danger Mouse and a project with Mach-Hommy, all arriving as The Roots themselves edge closer to their own album, "Endgame." For a rapper known for elevating whoever he's paired with, a full-length with 9th Wonder has been a long time coming.
