Earwig Tacoma is almost through the main construction phase 🎉🍾 Too many people to thank now and too tired to write much. Just wanted to update those of you following along the process. Holy cow, if you are considering building your own studio, feel free to pick my brain. I’ve learned a lot!

Very sad to say goodbye to Anthony “Oni” Timm (pictured in back). This is us just after finishing the album last summer. We were new friends, but I consider myself lucky to know him and get to record his music.

S**t now I’m recalling all these small details like us finding out we are both mega fans of Sparklehorse, or him being grumpy about starting a session before noon, or sitting in the studio kitchen talking about our favorite movies.

Gonna miss ya Oni.

How many musicians does it take to move a 9 foot, 1200 lb vintage recording console? Only one if you are aka Joe Filkins. The other 4 of us mostly watched except for a few key moments.

Can you tell which moment almost gave me a heart attack? Joe asked me to tell him the value of the console only after it reached the final destination.

And for those who are wondering: no we are not at all done with construction. The console is going in now because it’s too big for any door and we need to plug up the previous garage door now. Joe has plans to build an airtight sarcophagus around it to keep out the dust.

I’m well aware this is far too long for a social media post. But I wanted to document a moment we’ve been planning since September last year. Earwig Tacoma, here we come!

New console moving day tomorrow! 🤩 Rented a forklift and car trailer to get it out of my garage and into the new studio. The Sphere Eclipse C is a 40-channel analog beast!
