One of Tahlequah’s hidden gems We now have 16 minis but not all of them are used for outings.

Our Story

About 8 years ago, we moved from town and bought a five acre ranch at the edge of Tahlequah, right down the road in front of the Church of the Nazarene that’s in Tahlequah. After seeing how the horses have helped my grandpa and I, we decided to officially become a miniature equine therapy organization. We are family owned and operated with a team of 11 family members. Normally, we bring

two or three depending on who can come and help. After a few years of having a big, old and ugly trailer meant for Thoroughbred horses, we got a black and white miniature horse trailer. A few years later, my uncle, who does wraps for vehicles and RVs among other things, came over and decided to spruce up our new trailer so it wouldn’t look so plain and boring. That’s how it came to have a trio of red, black and white horses on the front where the hookup is and the back as well with our name, Little Cherokee Horses and Miniature Equine Therapy. There are also some line designs in our colors in various places on the trailer. Despite what you might think, the ramp and door for loading and unloading the horses are on the side, instead of at the back. It also has three windows so the horses can look outside and they can come up so that they can stick their heads out when it’s parked and they are awaiting to be led out. We bring our horses to nursing homes, shut ins and mental health awareness events in and around Tahlequah as our free community outreach. If you would like to come out and witness the healing and calmness these wonderful horses emit or want us to bring a couple of them to one of the above locations, please contact us through the send message button at the top of our page. Thanks for your support!

Nature has a way of designing solutions far beyond our imagination. The woodpecker’s tongue wraps around its skull, acting as a built-in cushion to protect its brain while pecking. Incredible, right? This biological marvel teaches us how interconnected and efficient natural systems are—and reminds us to trust in nature's wisdom. From turmeric for inflammation to ginger for digestion, natural remedies often work in harmony with our bodies, just like this bird’s anatomy does. The more we understand nature, the better we can care for ourselves. 🌳🪶
