So if Pennywise and Beetlejuice had a baby, and Jason Voorhees and Venom combined, and they came together.. That's how Haunt by AJ Merlin was born.

I hate that it's only 100 pages. But absolutely worth the ride for those that see the romance in slasher films.

I really enjoyed the taboo themes — they kept me hooked and made the story stand out. The spice is definitely 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, but the writing itself felt a bit immature at times, almost like it was written by a 12-year-old. It did feel a bit repetitive at times. A mix of addictive and frustrating, this one lands right in the middle for me.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent is an addictive, slow-burn fantasy romance that pulls you into a world of danger, magic, and heart-stopping stakes. Oraya, the human daughter of a vampire king, enters the deadly Kejari—a brutal tournament where survival is anything but guaranteed. Enter Raihn, her enigmatic ally (and possible enemy), whose sharp wit and simmering tension with Oraya make every interaction electric.

The world-building is rich and immersive, full of lore and dark beauty, and the Kejari itself feels intense and visceral. Broadbent does an excellent job balancing the brutal action with the emotional pull between Oraya and Raihn, crafting a romance that’s as much about trust and survival as it is about longing.

The pacing can feel a little slow at times, especially as the relationship builds in careful, deliberate steps, but the payoff is well worth it. This is not a whirlwind romance—it’s a patient, layered burn that makes every stolen glance and risky choice feel earned.

Overall, this is a gripping, atmospheric fantasy with just the right mix of blood, betrayal, and yearning.

Sick Boys is an intense ride through the shadows of college life, secrets, and twisted romance. Clarissa Wild delivers a dark, fast-paced reverse harem story filled with angst, power games, and emotional trauma. At its heart is Penelope—a determined, sharp-edged heroine on a mission to uncover the truth behind her twin sister’s tragic fall from grace… or rather, from The Edge.

To do that, she makes a dangerous deal with the school’s most feared and untouchable trio—Felix, Dylan, and Alistair. The “Sick Boys” are equal parts magnetic and cruel, pushing every boundary Penelope has. What follows is a storm of manipulation, secrets, and unexpected connection, as she dives deeper into their brutal world to find the truth.

However, the book leans heavily into the dark bully trope, sometimes at the expense of depth and plot. The emotional whiplash can be a bit much, and a few twists felt more sensational than meaningful. Some readers might love the chaos, while others may wish for more nuance or development in the emotional arcs.

Still, if you enjoy a messy, morally gray, reverse harem romance with high stakes and secrets that keep unraveling, Sick Boys will absolutely pull you in.

⭐⭐⭐

"We come together, or not at all."

Sugar Daddies by Jade West delivers exactly what it promises on the surface—a provocative, taboo-tinged romance with plenty of heat. The story centers on Carl and Rick, two bisexual men in a long-term relationship who decide to seek out a woman to share their lives with. Enter Katie, a young woman answering their ad on a sugar daddy site, setting the stage for a complex and emotionally charged ménage relationship.

The premise is refreshing and bold, especially for readers looking for more diverse representation in romance. Carl and Rick's bisexuality is acknowledged. The chemistry between the trio is undeniable, and Jade West certainly knows how to write steamy scenes that push boundaries.

However, the book stumbles when it comes to emotional depth and pacing. While the erotic moments are plentiful, the development of the actual relationship—especially the deeper emotional connection between all three characters—feels rushed at times. Katie's character, in particular, could have used more fleshing out beyond her role as the third in the relationship.

If you're looking for an unconventional, high-heat romance with a unique setup, Sugar Daddies delivers. Just don't expect too much in terms of character nuance or plot complexity. A spicy read, but not quite a standout in terms of storytelling.

★★★☆☆ – An Interesting Setup, But Emotionally Flat

Before His Choice by Clarissa Wild sets the stage for what’s to come, offering background on the characters and their circumstances. It has potential as a prequel, giving readers a glimpse into the world and dynamic that unfolds later in the series.

However, the emotional depth and connection between the characters feel lacking. The story moves quickly but without much intensity or passion, making it hard to truly invest in the characters or their choices.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A Decent Prequel with Room to Grow

As a prequel, Alpha's Guide to Lost Wolves sets the stage for Aimee Easterling’s shifter world with intriguing ideas and fast-paced storytelling. It gives readers a look into the dynamics of the pack and the mystery surrounding the mate market, laying a solid foundation for what’s to come.

That said, while the premise is promising, the story occasionally feels rushed, with limited character development and a few plot elements that could have been explored more fully. It introduces compelling lore but doesn't always delve deep enough to make a lasting impact.

Overall, this is a good entry point for new readers and a solid addition for fans already invested in the series. It’s engaging enough to pique interest in the main books, even if it doesn’t quite stand out on its own.
