🌀Late Tropics Update🌀

Humberto is looking very organized this afternoon. I mentioned on TV yesterday, I would not be shocked if this reached major hurricane strength (category 3 or stronger) and this morning's update has that.

New update coming up around 5 PM.

Additionally, invest 94L is near Hispaniola and still no clear center of circulation. This is a wave we will watch closely. Although chances of it impacting the Gulf are minimal, there could be some impacts to the southeast coast, including high surf and dangerous rip currents to eastern Florida.

DROUGHT UPDATE

The updated drought monitor now shows a severe drought in the deep orange area. Most of the Big Bend in a moderate drought.

Some good news, I see showers on the radar. Expect some scattered showers this afternoon. More rain arrives tomorrow morning.

The cold front to our west is still on track to bring rain to the area. There is an opportunity for some of us to see showers and storms today. Chances look highest tomorrow morning.

Most of us will see some rain in the next two days. There may be a few unlucky spots that don't get much out of this.

Humberto is our newest named storm. The tropical storm will likely reach hurricane strength this weekend.

Still watching the tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean too. This has an 80% chance of developing in the next few days.

No need for concern with Humberto. We will watch Invest 94L over the next few days to see how it behaves. Stay updated with trustworthy weather sources over the next week! :)

🌀TROPICAL UPDATE🌀

Let me start by saying there is no need to panic and worry right now. You will see crazy things on social media until the NHC releases its cone... and even after.

TWO areas of interest from the National Hurricane Center. Both are likely to develop into something a bit more organized over the next few days.

Both areas so NOT have a defined center of circulation right now. This can make for models to really struggle with initiation and beyond.

My thoughts? The red circle to the right is most likely to become Tropical Depression 8 today, with gradual strengthening into this weekend.

The blob farther south is staying on a west ward trajectory for now. Although, the NHC has it eventually moving north. The more west this goes, the more it raises eyebrows.

I will have an update at 2 p.m. on WCTV.tv with the latest from the NHC and the chance for some stronger storms tomorrow.

Gabrielle is no longer a major hurricane, but is still a Category 2. The weakening trend will continue as the cyclone moves toward Europe.
