“I will forever be grateful for my time at Florida State University and everyone who gave me a chance to do what I was truly passionate about. I hope I can look back on this send-off later in my career and truly reflect on how college shaped my life.”

“There are dozens of types of journalists — sports, political, fashion — and each of them works to help someone. They bring awareness to a topic, introduce the world to an incredible rookie, or bring a new designer to light. When I switched careers to journalism, I knew very little about the path, but I knew journalists were there to help, even if they didn’t always say it.”

Caitlin Doherty reflects on a visit to the Newseum, that opened her eyes and shaped her view on journalism.

“As my time as editor comes to a close, I leave the current and future reporters and editors of the FSView with one last “editor’s note”: do great work. Be involved with campus, understand student concerns, and bring them to light. Know that in this new landscape of journalism, anything is possible — never be afraid to try something new.”

Editor-in-Chief Cameron Glymph details her journey with the FSView and leaves future reporters with an important message.

“Still, to me, the most defining part of any experience is the people you get to interact with. I imagine that a majority of people at FSU have their own Kricia. They have their version of the View’s section, an experience that helped them reinvent themselves.”

Views Editor Denise Perez reflects on the things she knows after four years at FSU, and the people who made her college experience worthwhile.

“When I joined the FSView, I brought everything with me: my overthinking, oversharing, and overanalyzing — all the thoughts that had people saying ‘she’s going to be a lawyer someday.’ I needed to understand questions without clear answers, and I usually developed opinions that had opposing sides pointing the ‘radical’ finger. I cared loudly about everything. And I liked that.”

Deputy Views Editor Mikaela Georgi shares a guide to being “too much” and embracing it.

“Hindsight in these moments creates the illusion that there is a ‘right’ way the past should have unfolded. The issue is that I believe the most growth is found in understanding your story, not rewriting it. As it happens, none of us have the ability to rewrite our stories; we can only choose the way to continue writing them.

Views Staff Writer Reghan Chartrand shares her journey at Florida State wasn’t defined by the “right” way of doing things.
