There are those among us who make it their life’s calling to bring nourishment and encouragement in direct, meaningful, sustaining fashion. These are people who bring us food for our bodies and our souls.
For ten years, Freddy Branham has served the people of Tallahassee and the region through his leadership as the Executive Director of ECHO. It is an organization that began with one person in April of 1981. To date, the thousands of people served and the gifted people who serve our community have created pathways for assistance and the development of personal life skills.

Freddy will talk with Brien about the ways in which ECHO is working to overcome the impact of SNAP reductions and delays and the increasing pressure being brought upon those in need of assistance.

For more than 45 years, Christmas Connection has been dedicated to fulfilling the wishes and basic needs of vulnerable families from all religions, races, and ethnic backgrounds throughout the Big Bend area. During Christmas 2024, thousands of children and their families were supported thanks to the hard work of devoted volunteers and the generous contributions from people across the region.

The massive amount of work that goes into planning, communicating, coordinating, and operating Tallahassee’s Christmas Connection requires a level of devotion and vigilance characteristic of any highly professional organization. In this case, it is largely the many volunteers who make it happen. And, like all organizations of this caliber, it requires skillful, devoted leadership. That would be Christmas Connection Coordinator Pattie Malarney.

The work of Capstan Marketing’s Help Christmas Connection HelpChristmasConnection.com/ campaign began in 2010 as a way of promoting this beloved charity and encouraging all of us to give generously. As a marketing campaign, it relies on local business sponsors to fund the work.

From an earlier conversation, Rapid Press owner Lourdes Madsen will talk with Brien about her love for children and why her company has chosen to be a sponsor for many years.
