Monday AM update. Melissa now CAT 5 160mph. Pressure 917mb. Turn north confident. Current numbers. Eye is 11.5 miles wide. Hurricane force winds extend 30 miles from center. Tropical Storm force winds extend 195 miles from center. NHC 5am track and cone here. Cone is anywhere the eye can go. Highest surge on approach will be center towards the east. The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH RISK warning for life-threatening rip currents along Florida Panhandle and Big Bend beaches today, July 17, 2025.

🚩 Red flags are flying—please stay out of the water! If caught in a rip current: STAY CALM, WAVE, YELL, and FLOAT. 🆘

Also, be aware of localized heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding and ponding in low-lying areas. 🌧️💧

Watching the Tropics this week. NHC marking the area this AM at 20%. Lingering front will be bringing unsettled weather to the SE/Florida with lots of rain regardless heading into next weekend. Warmer than normal waters fueling. Some models hint low pressure tries to develop on either side of Florida. Steering currents kinda blocking any quick exit right now. Tricky.
