Two unrelated reports of severe illness following botulinum toxin injections were reported among Louisiana residents in September. One patient received injections of an unlicensed botulinum toxin product purchased online, and one patient received injections from an individual with unknown licensure in a non-medical setting. These patients began experiencing botulism-like symptoms a few days following the injections. Both experienced severe illness requiring hospitalization.

NELA medic Terry G. is pictured handing over care of his trauma patient to Air Evac 100 in Tallulah earlier today. The incident occurred along Interstate 20 and extrication surpassed 90 minutes. Air Evac RN P. Cascio and medic Nathan W. were on scene shortly after our arrival.

Todd M., our EMT on scene, noted: "They were exemplary. Paul climbed in the truck and stayed with the patient the entire time we were trying to extricate."

"What a crew they were today," he added.

The Madison Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police & Madison Parish Fire were among the numerous agencies on scene.

In May 2025, the Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) underwent an unannounced Joint Commission Survey, a vigorous audit process which ultimately resulted in the organization earning accreditations in Ambulatory Health Care and Behavioral Health Care and Human Services. OMC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) servicing Natchitoches, Tallulah and Leesville, providing patient care, dental and counseling services.
