At just ten years old, Julian “Ju” Tolbert lives with Sickle Cell Disease — a condition that leaves him battling pain, fatigue, and endless hospital stays. Every three weeks, he endures a seven-hour blood transfusion. Yet Ju never complains. Instead, he smiles, hugs his stuffed bear, and asks, “When we’re done, can I play with my Legos?”
Ju dreams of becoming a doctor one day. On good days, he plays baseball or basketball with his friends. On hard days, he still finds reasons to laugh, to build, and to hope. His family prays for a bone marrow transplant that could give him the chance at a healthier life.
Ju doesn’t want to be defined by his illness. He wants to be remembered for his courage, kindness, and determination. His story is not just about sickness — it’s about resilience, hope, and the unbreakable spirit of a child.
