The State of Florida has ordered cities to remove street art, including St. Pete’s Pride crosswalk on Central Ave. and the Black Lives Matter mural on 9th Ave. S, under the guise of “road safety.”

These murals aren’t just decoration. They’re a vital part of St. Pete’s cultural identity, attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and showing residents and newcomers that this is a safe and welcoming place. Removing them threatens tourism, community pride, and the diversity that makes our city thrive.
